Blackbutt Hotel · Poker room service

Drinks downstairs.
Players stay seated.

A table-specific QR ordering workflow connects poker players downstairs with hotel staff upstairs—without forcing either side into an oversized hospitality platform.

01 / The service problem

The bar was upstairs.
The game was downstairs.

Leaving the table meant missing hands, while staff needed enough information to prepare the right drink and deliver it to the right place.

A conventional menu page would not solve the operational gap. The useful product needed to carry a table number, a guest name and an order into a clear staff queue.

The brief was simple: reduce the back and forth without complicating payment or service.

02 / The connected workflow

Scan. Choose.
Send. Serve.

Every step answers one practical question for the guest or the team.

  1. 01 / IDENTIFYScan at the tableThe QR code opens the menu already connected to the player’s table.
  2. 02 / CHOOSESelect a drinkBeer, wine, spirits and soft drinks stay easy to browse on a phone.
  3. 03 / SENDRequest goes upstairsThe order arrives with the guest name, table number and requested items.
  4. 04 / MOVEStaff update the queueNew, preparing, on the way and delivered states keep service visible.
  5. 05 / COMPLETEDeliver and take paymentThe drink reaches the table and payment stays on the hotel’s EFTPOS terminal.
Player experience

Designed for one hand,
between poker hands.

The mobile experience avoids account creation, delivery addresses and online checkout. It asks only for what staff need to fulfil the request.

  • Table context travels with the QR code.
  • A familiar category menu keeps choosing quick.
  • Quantity controls work comfortably on a phone.
  • The final action states where the drink is going.

04 / Staff operations

A service queue
the team can read.

The staff dashboard turns separate table requests into one shared operational view, arranged by what needs attention next.

05 / What the work proves

StudioHQ can turn
a service problem into
a focused digital tool.

The value is not the number of features. It is the fit between the customer’s moment, the team’s workflow and the venue’s existing payment process.

01Context-aware entryA QR code can carry location or table information into the experience.02Two-sided workflowsThe guest action and the staff response are designed as one connected system.03Operational statusClear states help a team understand what is waiting, moving and finished.04Practical boundariesExisting EFTPOS remains in place instead of adding unnecessary checkout complexity.

06 / Honest proof

Real interfaces.
No invented results.

The guest menu and staff dashboard shown here are the real approved project screens. They verify the table-aware ordering flow and the staff service states.

Until Blackbutt Hotel approves operating data, this page does not claim a sales lift, order-volume increase or measured reduction in wait time. The working service design is the proof.

Where does service get stuck?
